Hello! My name is Reyna Valenzuela and I am the College Adviser at Bell High School in Bell, CA. This is my second year as an adviser and the second year that I fundraise for a scholarship to award my students.
I have spent the past year and a half working with seniors, to ensure that they have the necessary resources, tools, knowledge, and support to prepare for and to enroll in college. Choosing to go to college is an incredibly important decision to make, and I want to celebrate this decision with the seniors of Bell High School.
Last year, I held an event called "Decision Day," where I awarded four $250 scholarships to students. Many donors and supporters from last year helped make the event a huge success.
As such, Decision Day will happen again this year on Tuesday, May 17th 2016. This event will continue to promote the college-going culture on campus in addition to celebrating the seniors’ journey through college admissions. The places these seniors will go extend far beyond the college campus they will be attending in the fall. These seniors will become leaders and agents of change as they reach new heights personally and professionally through their college experience.
