Here is the schedule for finals beginning June 17th

Congratulations to Ronmel Rugama, Bell Senior High's later Gates Millenium Scholarship Winner.

Ronmel's award makes now eight recipients of this prestigious award in just five years. Awardees of this highly sought-after prize are able to pursue a Bachelor's Degree, Masters, and even a Doctoral degree with all expenses covered by the Gates Foundation.

Dear Students and Parents,
Smarter Balanced State Achievement Testing for 11th Grade students only is underway. We expect to be testing students on all tracks until mid-June. For students who are testing, especially, make sure you get a good night's sleep and eat breakfast in order to do their best. Remember also, that scores from these tests can, at the student's discretion, be used in lieu of required placement tests at California Community and State colleges.

Thanks to the generous donations of more than 20 Bell Alumni, Staff, and members of the Bell School Community, we have exceeded our original goal of building a $1,000 Scholarship Fund. This effort to support our deserving students is being done through a GoFundMe campaign online to help deserving college-bound Bell High School Seniors get a head start on their way to college. This effort was meant to help 4 students with $250 each, but now we will be able to award at least 6 students that amount, and possibly more! Thank you!

Roughly half of cancer deaths in the United States could be prevented or forestalled if all Americans quit smoking, cut back on drinking, maintained a healthful weight and got at least 150 minutes of exercise each week.

These same measures would also reduce the number of new cancer diagnoses by 40% to 70%, according to a new report. Read more by clicking the link.

Our Annual Parent Power Fair was held this past Saturday, May 14th, in the Bell High School auditorium from 9am to 12:30pm. Thank you to all the families who attended, and the Bell HS staff that helped out with this event!

To encourage the participation of parents and students, students may be offered extra credit by some of their teachers for attending the fair with their parents, interviewing their parents, and writing a summary of their parent's responses. At the registration students will be given a handout where they can write their summary and submit it to a teacher for extra credit, or they may submit the completed form to the Dean's office for detention hours to be deducted.

The theme this year is "Staying On Track to Success" and each speaker will speak to this theme. Parents will learn about improving communication with their child, influences their child will encounter and how they can support their child through the difficult teenage years. The speakers are outstanding and will provide parents with valuable information to help them understand ways to support their teenager, as well as inspire and motivate our students. There will be translation, giveaways and raffles for both students and parents. Lunch will also be provided.

Beginning May 2, hundreds of Bell Eagles will begin taking their AP Exams to earn college credit. Many students will be taking more than one test. Tests include AP Biology, AP English, AP Government, AP US History, and more. Best of luck outstanding Eagle Scholars!

It has recently been reported to the School Administration by students, parents, and school personnel that our students are using a cell phone app called “Ogle”. “Ogle” is a phone app which allows users to post messages, comments to messages, pictures, and videos to be shared with a school campus community. Unfortunately, this app is being used to post inappropriate, degrading, and demeaning things about fellow students and school staff. Read more by clicking the headline above.
